Direct courses for you and your students

With the dramatic increase in the use of mountain biking as an activity for customers, groups and those with specific development needs, there has never been a higher need to be qualified in mountain bike leading. The best courses in the UK are now available at your institution through OTC’s defined education based program.

Why use mountain biking?

More activity providers than ever before are using mountain biking activities as part of their programs.

Why are they doing this? Four essential reasons:

Their customers are asking for it. Group members want to go mountain biking. It's fun, exciting and enjoyable.
Many group members already have basic skills (after all most people can ride a bike) enabling them to partcipate and progress quickly.
It can be used very effectivly as a teaching, social, and personal development tool due to the individual nature of the activity in a group environment.
Clubs have a responsbility to their members to ensure they provide safe club based activties.

It's variety, exhilaration and support mechanisms make mountain biking the perfect additional activity for outfoor instructors to use. With an extra well recognised qualification, your students become better at their future jobs as well as being more employable in the first place.

Course Options

Mountain bike leader courses can now be operated from your institution using specialist staff which makes the most of your limited time and money. These courses are called Special Courses and each one is individually oriented around the time, needs and abilities of each of the course delegates, in line with the requirements of the qualification

Depending the previous experience, needs, age, and abilities of your students, a variety of special courses can be provided from the Assistant Leader Award setting people up for their first foray into leading, to the Level 2 Leader Award covering the leading of groups in technical and demanding terrain

Minimum numbers for special courses start at just 2 for a Level 2 Leader Assesment or 4 for one of the other courses and even when you have a large group, a maximum ratio of 1 to 8 helps to ensure the quality of training and assessment provision

Why use OTC courses?

Quite simply, there are no better courses. The match of flexibility with accurately positioned courses, the applied environment where learning opportunities are provided and the modern integrated principles of the course means that simply going through an OTC course is an education intself.

The wide range of courses on offer meet different requirements and then each course is amended to suit students needs.

Courses can be provided by Leader Trainers, so you either run the course through the all-encompasing provisions that OTC provides, Operate it by employing a Leader Trainer or become a Leadr Trainer yourself.

If you choose OTC to set up and provide the course, you'll be backed by years of experience of special course provision and a team of 18 Leader Trainers across the UK and Europe.
