Mission aims
OTC was set up in 1997 with the express aim of developing opportunities
for those interested in mountain biking to develop and improve. Since then, OTC's remit has extended to include road cycling training provision as well
Our mission aims include:
To provide a total quality service for recreational mountain bikers and cyclists
directly or indirectly through OTC, our products or services.
To enable recognition of the standards of those indiviuals who
are working towards or holding internationally recognised qualifications.
The provision of applicable and comprehensive training for candidates
of qualifications.
The provision of fair, accurate and specific assessments at levels
appropriate to the needs of participants in the activity of mountain
biking, cycling and the industry.
Support and advice for any aspect of recreational mountain biking
and cycling to providers, participants or others.
To enhance the perception amongst countryside users and other bodies
of mountain biking and cycling.
Methodology
At OTC we believe that helping others helps yourself. The support
and service we provide on any course is based around the needs of the
individual and group. It is about reinforcing the positive aspects,
no matter what the current level of ability or knowledge. It's about
helping people to help themselves: to self evaluate; to create opportunities;
to work on the areas they feel less confident in.
Other organisations views
The support of National Governing Bodies for cycling and other outdoor
activities, such as mountain walking, helps OTC implement these beliefs.
Even more importantly, extending the OTC ethos to those leading or instructing
others means that everyone benefits, right down to those simply partaking
in the sport.
OTC staff
OTC Staff and Leader Trainers are all very experienced riders, tutors
and outdoor instructors. We belive in having staff of high quality,
learning and mentoring ability as well as being able to ride bikes.
Cummulatively, their portfolio of evidence totals some centuries,
with experience as wide as expeditions in India, racing the world championships,
managing outdoor education centres, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and developing
courses in Israel. We believe that OTC collectively has the most experience
in mountain biking qualification and leading in the UK, Ireland and
quite possibly the world.
More on OTC staff.
If you attend an OTC course, whether it is for personal development
or for instructing others, you will find a commitment to the best at
the top of the list. Other organisations, like Orange (bikes), Karrimor
(clothing), PGL (School and group multi-activity breaks), Neilson (Holidays), Polaris (clothing)
and Alp Active (mountain bike holidays) know this. Get on a course and find out for yourself.
We want to YOU to benefit. That's why OTC exists.
